Louie Delaware is The Home Safety Guru.  Before getting into helping protect families, Louie earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and his MBA at the University of Colorado. 

Safety became his passion and Louie decided to become a Certified Child & Home Safety Professional. This special training and perspective led to the founding of Colorado Childproofers LLC.  Louie is also a Licensed ICC General Contractor and certified U.S. Radon Tester & Mitigator.

Louie has a knack for being able to describe home safety issues in easy to understand terms and is a frequent commentator on many local Denver TV news and talk radio programs and contributor to many local newspapers.

He also writes many columns and newsletters on various topics that are seasonally oriented, like preventing window falls during warm months, making certain that smoke detectors are in good working order in preparation for the cooler months.  Louie also is in the process of publishing a book called The Home Safety Guru’s Guide To Childproofing.

From helping save peoples lives in developing surgical devices, to making their lives easier with new hip & knee implants or respiratory care equipment, Louie has been involved in many advanced technologies.  He has taken this zeal to improve people’s lives by  helping prevent injuries and making their home environment less stressful. 

Almost as if he planned it, Louie’s past education, training and experiences have integrated seamlessly into his new passion for protecting people in their homes.  Louie uses his knowledge on a wide variety of topics to distill home safety issues down to easy to understand terms for people who are not technophiles. 

From a quality standpoint, Louie has helped 5 companies attain ISO-9001 certification, especially in the highly regulated medical device market.  He has been involved in helping companies also pursue Total Quality Management, something he continues to value in his day to day activities with his clients and staff members.  He is a strong proponent of not only doing the right things, but also doing things right. 

Louie belongs to The International Association of Child Safety, where he heads up a Committee for Standards, Training & Certification.  He is also a member of The Safe Kids Denver Metro, The Denver-Boulder Better Business Bureau and Colorado TV Fox 31 Tom Martino’s Exclusive Troubleshooter Network.

Raised in Illinois, Louie now lives in Louisville, Colorado, with his wife, Judy, and their children, Prescott & Elise, and two ultra-fast whippet dogs, Hobbes & Quicksilver.
